About Flâneur » Introduction

"George Bernard Shaw once said 'There is no love sincerer than the love of food' and there is no restaurant that better exemplifies this alimentary devotion than Flâneur."

A Flâneur is someone who strolls in arcades, shops in the market and hangs out in cafés.

Traditionally in the Paris markets of 18th & 19th century, rich people who didn't need to work but needed to show off their wealth would head for the markets and idlely stroll around without worry. A sign of just how much time you had to idle around used to be sometimes seen by people having a tortoise on a lead!

We have brought this concept back by filling our shelves with artisanal & fine foods, so bringing the essence of the "Flâneur" to Farringdon.
